I found this lantern in my garage and thought I could do something with this... So I tried making clay coils and wrapping them around the object like vines.
Unfortunately the clay began to crack and eventually fell apart :(
Since my last experiment didn't work I decided to make things easier. So I got some wool and started wrapping my object in it, hanging it from the corners and the handle so delicately. I found that I got the same effect that I was looking for with the clay but just with a different material.
